Step 1
Visualize and Digitize the Brainstorming
After numerous design iterations, a breakthrough occurred on April 11, 2024. The creation of this briefing chart marks the transition from quantitative to qualitative changes, reflecting our dedication and time spent on designing lures.
Our primary goal is to extract the emotions, excitement, and the envisioned appearance of the dream lure from our customers’ minds to create an effective fish-catching bait.
This chart is essential for capturing all aspects of the new lure without overlooking any detail. This step aims to provide a clear representation of the new lure using data and descriptive language.
Once the FLAT Design Briefing chart is completed, we can proceed to the next stage of hand sketching.
Step 2
Hand Sketch – Draw Until You Like It (3-7 Days)
Prior to creating a 3D model of the lure, a hand sketch allows us to understand your visual preferences and dislikes.
This step is crucial and has saved us time on numerous projects by avoiding constant changes in the 3D model while trying to guess the best design. Hand sketching is much quicker than 3D modeling for visual exploration.
Step 3
Precise 3D Drawing (3-7 Days)
Previously, without the clarity from steps 1 and 2, the 3D drawing process seemed to drag on for approval.
Now, this has become the simplest phase for us and our customers.
Step 4
3D Print the Design (2 Days)
This step allows us to experience the tactile and visual aspects of the actual bait, assessing its look and size.
Additionally, it is crucial to finalize the rigging system details at this stage, including the hook size, depth, and length.
Step 5
Sampling
Creating a sample mold typically costs USD 100-150 and takes 1-2 weeks.
Before producing the sample, it is essential for us to have the following information to tailor the formula for your bait:
- Rigging system details: weight and size of the hook
- Testing method for the bait
- Gear ratio of the reel you will use for bait testing
Step 6
Testing Before Shipping Samples
When collaborating with a factory led by anglers like FLAT, there are numerous advantages. In this stage, before dispatching the samples, I aim to offer additional information:
- Underwater footage showcasing the optimal angle for assessing swim action
- Fish-catching videos and images to demonstrate the bait’s effectiveness
- Comprehensive testing report providing an additional perspective on the overall bait performance for your reference
